Winston-Salem, NC(November 22, 2011) -- The final weekend of racing for Late Model Stock Car drivers on the east coast at Myrtle Beach Speedway is always an exciting one, but for Ronnie Bassett, Jr., it wasn't exactly the way he wanted to end what was an incredible season.
Bassett, had the best season in his short Late Model Stock Car career in 2011 as he racked up four trips to victory lane over the length of his 16-race season. Bassett, who had been impressive in his rookie season in 2010, made a splash this season as he raced from the Fat Head Racing stables to four wins before parting ways with the team near seasons end.
Bassett is now back with his family owned team and is a mentoring teammate to his younger brother, Dillon Bassett, who won his share of races this season in Limited Late Models and has since moved up to compete against his brother. Ronnie, Jr. and Dillon have become two of the young drivers that everyone is looking at and judging their young driver against as the Bassett's have made themselves a place in Late Model Stock Car racing.
While Bassett qualified poorly on Saturday at Myrtle Beach, he was able to race his way into what's considered the second biggest Late Model race of the season and started 30th. Through a myriad of trials and tribulations during the running of the 250-lap race, the older of the Bassett siblings posted a 33rd place finish.
Now, the young driver will look to prepare his team with his brother by his side to race for the UARA-STARS Series championship in 2012.
